Wednesday 25th August 2027 The Cotswolds

Formal invitations are still to come — but the Cotswolds in August is a busy place, and the loveliest rooms go early. So we wanted to share where we are getting married, and where we would suggest staying, in good time for you to plan.

The Cotswolds has some of the most beautiful accommodation in England, and if you are travelling from afar we would love for you to make a few days of it.

Transport

Getting Here

Worth a thought before you book a room — where you stay and how you travel go hand in hand out here. We particularly encourage you to pre-book a taxi so you can truly relax and enjoy the evening.

By Taxi

Short hops from anywhere in Cirencester. These are the local firms worth having in your phone:

Please do not rely on Uber. Coverage out here is patchy at the best of times and all but disappears in the evenings — you may well find no cars at all. Taxis are also in high demand in the Cotswolds in summer, so do book a local firm well in advance of the day.

By Car

Ivy Lodge sits within Cirencester Park, just off the A417, and is easily reached from all directions via the Cotswold road network.

  • From Ware & Hertfordshire
Approx. 2 hrs via the M25 and M4, leaving at Swindon for the A419
  • From London
Approx. 1 hr 45 via the M4 and A419, or the M40 and A40 if you are coming from the north or west of the city
  • From Cardiff & South Wales
Approx. 1 hr 30 east on the M4 over the Severn, then the A419 from Swindon
  • From Pembrokeshire
Approx. 3 hrs via the A40 and M4, over the Severn and on to the A419

Parking: parking is available on site within the estate grounds. Full details will follow with your formal invitation.

By Train

The nearest station is Kemble, about four miles away, with direct services from London Paddington.

  • From London Paddington: approx. 75 mins
  • From Swindon: approx. 15 mins

A pre-booked taxi from Kemble to Ivy Lodge takes around ten minutes. If you are coming by train, staying in Cirencester itself makes life simplest.

One Last Thing

Before You Book

August is the height of the season here. Rooms in Cirencester and the surrounding villages are taken early, and the smaller inns only have a handful of each. If somewhere on this page appeals to you, we would gently say: book it now and sort the details later.

Your formal invitation, with the full timings, dress code and everything else you need, will follow in due course. Nothing here asks anything of you yet — it is simply so that you can book with confidence.

And if you have a question, or you are not sure what would suit you, please just ask us.
